Press Release Regarding The 10th International Export Control Conference , 24.06.2009

The 10th International Export Control Conference (EXBS); co-hosted by Turkey and the United States of America, will be held in Istanbul on 25-27 June 2009.

The conference, aiming to create an atmosphere of discussion and an opportunity of exchange of views on export control and related matters, is expected to bring about nearly 200 experts, representing more than fifty countries, including senior representatives of export control regimes and representatives of relevant international, as well as non-governmental organizations.

The seminar is held within the context of the Agreement Regarding Cooperation to Facilitate the Provision of Assistance for Non-proliferation Purposes, signed between Turkey and the United States of America, which has entered into force on 9 June 2008. A delegation comprising the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as other Turkish institutions related to export controls, will participate in the Conference.

The Conference is another proof of the importance attached by Turkey to disarmament, arms control and non-proliferation, and to international cooperation in those fields.
